What was the best poker hand you ever played?

The best hand I ever played I was playing $2-$4 Texas hold-em at Balley’s in Las Vegas when I got pocket 2s. A guy raised the bet from $2 to $4 before the flop the way he was acting I could tell he probably had Pocket As but I decided to go ahead and call and hope for a set. The flop came 22A giving me 4 2s and I could tell this guy had a full house. I checked and he bet $2 another guy called and I raised. That guy re-raised me the next guy called and I re-raised and they both called because four bets is the limit if more then 2 people are in a hand. The turn card came out and it was a K and we bet and raised each other $4 a bet until we hit th 4 bet mark because the other guy was still in. The river was a 4 now I bet and he raised then the other guy finally folded. Now it was heads up and we bet back and forth until all his chips were in the pot. He stood up smiling and said “Aces full baby!” I said “thats a good hand but it doesn’t beat 4 deuces.” I won $280 over what I had in.

Nice story.

I have two favorites for you. The first was in a pub poker league game. There was a bunch of limpers and so I decided to limp on the button with 3 5 of spaces. The flop came A 2 4 of spades. I had flopped an unbeatable straight flush. Even better someone had the king of spades and started being aggressive with when they hit their ‘nut flush.’ In fact two players were aggressively playing each other, and I just went along for the ride. Of course I took down a very nice pot, along with some rather irritated comments about playing 3 5. I rubbed some salt in the wound by telling them I played it because it was suited.

But probably my favorite was in a pub poker tournament. There were 176 players, and right at the end of day one I flopped top two pair Jacks and Tens. A fairly short stack moved all in after I checked, and the player behind him called. I thought about it for a moment and moved all in, which really annoyed the caller. Eventually he called.

The first player had something like KJ giving him top pair with an ace kicker. The second player made a nut flush on the turn causing him to get very cocky. But the river brought another jack giving me the boat. I knocked two players out of the tournament and took down a pot with over $75,000 in it. This made me massive chip leader for day two, where the average chip stack was in the $20,000 range and second place was $50,000.

I held on to my massive chip lead on day two and within two hours of day two was sitting on $168,000. At the end of day two I took down the final table and was given a choice of a luxury cruise or a trip to Atlantic City and a buy in to a $500 WSOP Circuit event. I took the WSOP event and had a blast.

I will always remember that hand as the pivotal moment in the tournament. I think in every tournament you win, there is usually one specific hand when you get a bit lucky. That was the one for me.
