What talents or skills that are most successful professional poker players have?
I consider myself an intelligent person and have read Skylansky poker books, among others, have played online, and played in casinos. It took me some time I'm good at math, understanding the concepts of profit, the variance and the mathematics of risk of ruin. Anyway, curious if I have to abandon the effort, or if I can improve my game My hunch is that Players have the greatest capacity for success of an intangible and indefinable of "reading" other players, and an ability to remember the opponent's past behavior and history of the game, the latter seems difficult.
Well, if you really have mastered all the skill areas you mentioned, mathematics, Sklansky theories, etc. Then you should probably be able to make money on the side as a hobby. But I think you're right. I think that professional poker players really have an innate ability to play is irrelevant. Doyle Brunson and others have spoken of the importance of a good memory for the hands that preceded it, is a difficult skill to learn. It is clear in any game there is a natural talent in question. You can take 100 people great, and some might be good at basketball. Tiger Woods could give me golf lessons every day for 10 years, and I would never be half the player he is. Like any game, some people are better than others. And you have to accept that it can never become a player professional poker. But it's okay to enjoy the game as a hobby. Some people can make money on the side of it.
