Java poker game tutorial?
I’m looking for tutorial for creating a poker game in java. I’d prefer a texa’s hold’em tutorial but i’m not that bothered. Any ideas people??

The game engine for these kinds of java problems is usually pretty easy to code. Blackjack, one of the easier games, is about 500 lines of code on the engine side. It’s putting the GUI on top of that engine that begins to turn things into a marathon. You say tutorial, The Dummies Series, “Java Game Programming for Dummies” has some of the best ideas for a card game. They use one graphic for all 55 possibilities — the card back, 2 jokers, 4 suits with 13 ranks. Java is capable of clipping the individual cards out of that one group.
So, I am of the opinion that the Blackjack route would get you started, then the engine for Texas Hold Em be just a little more involved. Isn’t Hold Em deal 7, toss 2 with some wild cards? I’ve never played it. That could be numbers like
1 0 2 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0
but you have to use a scheme like the Dummies book did with the single graphic to make 55 images.
