No matter if you call or Padooki Badugi, this poker game of Korean origin has made inroads in the Internet poker sites. I recently started playing at PokerStars.com and I found the game difficult, frustrating and fun, mostly.

If you are unfamiliar with Badugi, you can read a description of the game on Wikipedia. Basically, each player receives four cards and three draws for the lowest possible hand. Only cards of different ranks and clothing are accounted for when comparing hands to determine the winning hand. Aces always count as low badugi, Badugi the best hand is 4-3-2-A, no cards being the same color. The worst part is having the Badugi 4 kings.

Starting Hand Strategy

Different strategies that players can use when playing Badugi limit makes the play hard. Let's say you were treated 5 ♦ 7 ♣ ♣ ♥ KK your starting hand. Holding the hand of 3 cards and discard the King of Clubs, the probability of a cat used to complete your card 4 Badugi are just under 50%. There are only 10 blades available that can help your hand, like 5, 7 and K of spades which pair of cards already has not thus improve his hand. If you were to call your Badugi a tie, the odds are always against you winning the pot if there are more players remain in the hand until the end. His K-high Badugi lose all Badugi with a high card below the king. If you have no cards to improve your hand, then look for a card with 3-K-7-5, which is a sure loser. Knowing that this is true, most players throw two kings in the previous example. This strategy leaves them having to draw two cards that used to complement their Badugi and not guaranteed to have a low badugi. The player who chooses to keep the hand of 3 cards can still end up with a winner who could draw a little heart to replace K in a drawing at the beginning, then hit a low, a shovel can be used in a draw at the latest. Complicated, huh? In my experience, it should point to an 8 high Badugi or less. Nine or 10 high is dangerous and nothing is likely to lose if there are several players in the hand.

Betting Strategy

Players like to hunt with his hands in the lower limits than No-Limit Texas Hold'em badugi. I am guilty of hunting as often as it should. You can use to your advantage to increase the size of the pots winner. You should be careful how many players take action on each shift. They fire two or more cards or are they drawing? Do you take cards unless the second turn, and they did the first time? Person standing pat and not take action? These are all tracks that can be used to determine the capabilities of your hand to win. A player who enters the draw for first or second, you probably have a badugi, but can be a bit badugi. If you have a hand of 7 up or down to 3 cards, you want to stay in the game after the tie at third with the hope of reaching a bottom badugi. Many players are still in the hands of three more cards are high and usually end up losing your chips. The key to success in badugi is to pay players to stay in a hand when they are strong. If all world remains the development of cards and you have a hand high 5.3 on the card or better, or if you have a badugi, you should bet and raise. Do not let anyone get free maps. Any player who doubles Paris aggressive increases chance to rake in the pot.

Can bluff Badugi also be effective, especially when you're in position. I'll talk about a lantern in a future article. This position is far from being a complete guide to poker Badugi. I suggest you go to an online site like PokerStars.com and test the game on a gaming table. This is a great way to learn to play and develop their own strategy.
