No matter if you call or Padooki Badugi, this poker game of Korean origin has made inroads in the Internet poker sites. I recently started playing at PokerStars.com and I found the game difficult, frustrating and fun, mostly.
If you are unfamiliar with Badugi, you can read a description of the game on Wikipedia. Basically, each player receives four cards and three draws for the lowest possible hand. Only cards of different ranks and clothing are accounted for when comparing hands to determine the winning hand. Aces always count as low badugi, Badugi the best hand is 4-3-2-A, no cards being the same color. The worst part is having the Badugi 4 kings.
Starting Hand Strategy
Different strategies that players can use when playing Badugi limit makes the play hard. Let's say you were treated 5 ♦ 7 ♣ ♣ ♥ KK your starting hand. Holding the hand of 3 cards and discard the King of Clubs, the probability of a cat used to complete your card 4 Badugi are just under 50%.
