American Poker Players and the new law
After the unexpected death of unlawful Internet Gambling enforcement Act 2006 (UIGEA) last October, and subsequent arrests of two founders of Neteller, the online payment processor in January 2007, the world of online games has been somewhat of a freefall.
So what happened? What does this mean? First, and most importantly, this new law does not permit online poker illegal. Some states, including Washington, have specific laws that regulate online gaming, and do not talk about state laws here. In comparison, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, is simply a measure to restrict the transfer of money by banks to online gaming sites. Understood? It restricts the transfer of bank funds for online gaming. This does not mean at all that the game of illegal or criminal poker poker players.
In fact, if this is not as simple. After the enactment of the UIGEA, some poker rooms left the U.S. market such as Party Poker, and some remained as Poker Stars. Some processors Payment also left the U.S. market, as FirePay, and some remained, like Neteller. So, things were very different to America poker players.
Unfortunately, when the federal government arrested two founders of Neteller last January, everything has changed. Neteller left – running – The U.S. market. Closely followed by the names of all other major processors, including the Citadel and Click2Pay. Even if these arrests are not under the new law, the UIGEA, but were made under the Act are much older, 1961. And those arrests were not related to online poker, which were linked to sports in Paris.
Weird but true. Therefore, it is still illegal for U.S. poker players play poker online. However, only try to fund your account poker. It's a strange situation when viewed from a perspective not American. There can be no more all-American game of poker. It's the American game. Americans made what is, and Americans also became popular as it is, and Americans love.
So what happens now? The short answer is – do not know. However, what is known to be not less than thirty million Americans have played poker online, up to thirteen million Americans play poker online regularly. It may not be the presentation of options currently available, but is almost certain that new methods will be available soon. There are too many Americans who want to play poker online and many of them find a way. And with the amount of money involved, there will be many businesses to help them find it.
